Rick Bartow (1946-2016) was a contemporary Native American artist, musician and Vietnam war veteran. Bartow lived and worked in Oregon and belonged to the Wiyot Indians, a small tribe indigenous to California. Bartow graduated from the Western Oregon State College with a BA in secondary art education in 1969 before being drafted into the army until 1971. Bartow’s first solo exhibition was in 1985, his work can now be found both in public and private collections. Although much of his work is painting Bartow also produced many sculptures including “The Cedar Mill Poll” which was displayed in the Jacqueline Kennedy Garden at the White House.
